The Brazilian XLII Symposium on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (SBrT 2024) took place from 1st to 4th October 2024, in Belém. The symposium, themed “Science, Innovation and Development in the Amazon: The challenges for a sustainable future,” coincided with preparations for the 30th UN Conference on Climate Change (COP-30) and served as a key platform for discussions on critical issues in telecommunications and signal processing, particularly in the Amazon region.
As part of the event, Paolo Monti, from the ECO-eNet project, delivered a talk titled “Network Automation and Programmability in the 6G Era: Vision, Use Cases, and Challenges,” focused on the future of network technologies in the 6G era. Monti’s presentation explored how network automation and programmability, driven by artificial intelligence and machine learning models, are crucial to supporting the massive increase in connected devices and the wider adoption of distributed intelligence.

He offered insights into the developments needed to make optical networks more dynamic and flexible, addressing key challenges for the future of telecommunications.
Attendees of SBrT 2024 were able to hear Paolo Monti’s valuable perspectives on cutting-edge solutions and technologies shaping the future of 6G networks.
